Located in the heart of Playa Chiquita, just 650 meters from the beach, this private property is surrounded by lush nature and features two independent cabins and a vibrant tropical garden.

UP HOUSE: A spacious two-bedroom, one-bathroom house with a fully equipped kitchen and an open-plan living/dining area that flows into the garden. Ideal for up to 4 guests.

MINI UP: A charming one-bedroom cabin for 2 guests, featuring air conditioning for extra comfort—perfect for a romantic or serene retreat.

Both homes are separated by a vertical bromeliad garden, ensuring complete privacy. With independent entrances, the entire property comfortably accommodates up to 6 guests.

Access for guests

You'll have full access to both houses and the entire property. Enjoy your private tropical gardens, the terrace hammock, and the peaceful surroundings.
The property is located just 30 meters from the main road, making it easy to access. Guests can choose from several convenient options: take a direct shuttle from San José (SJO) airport, fly on a short 45-minute domestic flight to Limón followed by a one-hour drive, or enjoy a scenic 4–5 hour drive from San José.

How to get here

The main casita, UP! HOUSE, consists of two bedrooms and one bathroom, with a living/dining and kitchen area that opens up onto the tropical garden. It also has a deck and large hammock.

Bedroom #1 has a king sized bed, or can be set with two twin sized beds, if you prefer.

Bedroom #2 has a full sized bed. The main casita, UP! HOUSE, sleeps 4 people. The smaller casita, the MINI UP!, consists of one bedroom with a full sized bed and one bathroom, with a living/dining and kitchen area that opens up onto the tropical garden.

The MINI UP! sleeps 2 people. Both houses are made of black laurel hardwood, feature indigo textiles, as well as local Bribri artwork and handicrafts. The beds are very comfortable, with 400+ thread count cotton sheets and two full sized pillows per person. Kiö Cosméticos Naturales products are provided in the bathrooms, which are made from locally and organically grown coconuts and ylang ylang. The weather in Playa Chiquita is quite moderate, and you might even need a light long-sleeved shirt on some nights. Each bedroom and living area has a fan.

Both houses are well-equipped with proper mosquito repellents (such as nets, mosquito incense coils, and ultrasonic repellents) to avoid bites. There are flat screen televisions in each bedroom with ChromeCast, so you may stream your media apps (such as Netflix, DisneyPlus, HBO MAX, and YouTube) to the screen. Each house also has bluetooth speakers, so you can listen your music in the house. We understand that connectivity is important for our guests, so there is dedicated symmetrical fiber optic internet. The property is gated with a 24 hour security system, keyless entry locks, and parking. Two parking spots are designated for UP! HOUSE Costa Rica guests. When you arrive, you can drop your bags and be at the beach, an incredible restaurant, or the market within a few minutes walk. There are wonderful roadside stands that sell fresh fruit, homemade bread, pipa fria (cold coconut water), empanadas, and patis nearby. You can rent bikes (across the street), and explore the Caribe Sur area very easily. If you choose to cook, each kitchen is well-equipped with a refrigerator, coffee maker, blender, toaster, cookware, dishes, mugs, glasses, silverware and utensils so you can prepare delicious meals. The main casita, UP! HOUSE, has a full oven and four burner stove.

The MINI UP! has a two burner stove and toaster oven. We stock the kitchens with salt, pepper, sugar, flour, and olive oil. There is a market within a two minute walk (El Duende Gourmet) and two larger markets (Super Negro Green Market and Super Cocles) within a quick bike ride or drive for you to stock up. We also recommend the weekly Saturday farmer's market (Feria Agrícola y Artesanal de Puerto Viejo) in Puerto Viejo and a Wednesday farmer's market in Playa Chiquita for delicious produce, cheeses, chocolate, and breads. Everyday presents a new nature experience at UP! HOUSE COSTA RICA. On the property, we often see howler monkeys, sloths, green macaws, toucans, iguana, agouti, montezuma oropendula, hummingbirds, blue morpho butterflies, dragonflies, fireflies, geckos, and more! The Sloth Conservation Foundation has installed an animal crossing bridge on our property, so you may get lucky and even see some high wire action above!
